ビーガン王子ことAlex Deryczはこのたび、小泉進次郎環境大臣とともに、ヴィーガン料理を囲みながら、これからの食のあり方と環境問題について意見を交わしました。
会食の場となったのは、世界的にも高く評価されるヴィーガンレストラン「菜道」。美しく丁寧に仕上げられた料理を楽しみながら、植物性の食事が持つ可能性や、環境負荷の軽減につながるライフスタイルの在り方について、前向きな対話が行われました。
当日の印象について、ビーガン王子は次のように語っています。
「ヴィーガンと環境問題のつながりについて、すでに深く認識されていたことがとても印象的でした。あたたかく話を聞いてくださり、とても嬉しかったです。」
また、小泉大臣の
「この問題をいかにクールに解決するか、ハッピーにセクシーに」
という言葉にも、強く心を動かされたといいます。社会課題を重く語るだけでなく、多くの人が前向きに関わりたくなる形で発信していくことの大切さを、改めて感じる機会となりました。
さらに、ヴィーガン料理のおいしさにも関心を寄せていただき、食の選択が持つ可能性を共有できたことは、大きな希望につながりました。ビーガン王子自身も、サステナブルな未来に向けて本気で取り組む方々を、今後さまざまな形で支えていきたいと考えています。
今回の出会いは、日本におけるプラントベース、サステナブルな食文化、そして環境意識の広がりに向けた、小さいながらも確かな一歩となりました。

Vegan Oji, also known as Alex Derycz, recently had the opportunity to meet with Japan’s Minister of the Environment, Shinjiro Koizumi, to discuss the future of food, sustainability, and the growing importance of plant-based living.
The meeting took place over a special vegan meal at Saido, a restaurant widely recognized for its excellence in plant-based cuisine. In this warm and thoughtful setting, they exchanged views on how food choices can shape not only personal health, but also the future of the environment.
Reflecting on the experience, Vegan Oji shared:
“I was genuinely happy to see that Minister Koizumi already had a strong awareness of the connection between veganism and environmental issues. It gave me real hope.”
One of the most memorable moments from the meeting was Minister Koizumi’s remark:
“You have to think just how cool you can make this issue, how happy, how sexy.”
For Vegan Oji, this message captured something important: meaningful change becomes far more powerful when it is communicated in a way that feels inspiring, positive, and accessible.
It was also encouraging to see such a positive response to vegan cuisine itself. Sharing a meal together became more than just a dinner—it was a reminder that delicious food can open hearts, spark curiosity, and create new pathways for conversation around sustainability.
